Van Boom’s AGAINST ALL… A Taste of The Underground

Twenty-year-old Kuwaiti producer, Van Boom, dropped his album ‘Against All’ like Obama’s famous mic drop! At BARBA, around 100 people were taken on an underground trip with the music Van Boom put together. For an hour or so, it didn’t feel like we were in Kuwait. The best way to describe it is through Van Boom’s own words: “Combining dark elements of London based electronic sounds with a taste of distortions.” A reveal of a sort of gothic rave in his perspective on “trap music,” ‘Against All’ was its name.
The event kicked off with Salem Rashid, founder and label manager of Bedouin Records, uniquely spinning the wheels of beats to warm up the thriving audience for something new. While people were enjoying the ambiance of music, excellent food and Van Boom merchandise, the music stopped for seconds and a masked DJ appeared from the dark and took the place by storm! It was so intense that BBOYS dancers gave the taken audience a performance to ‘Against All’ tones. Only a creative, self taught young man like Van Boom can bring together all segments of a complex society. Only good music can unify our diversity into a force.
